This policy explains what data Beave ("the app", "we", "us") collects, why, and what control you have over it. It applies to the Beave Android app published by Aktar Studio.
Beave works anonymously. You can block apps, set blocking rules, run focus sessions, build your dam, and see your statistics without signing in. In this mode your data lives only on your device and is never sent to us.
Signing in (with Google) is optional and only needed for the global leaderboard, cloud backup of your tasks, and to buy Beave Gold.
This is the most sensitive data Beave handles, so it gets its own section.
With your permission, Beave uses Android's Usage Access to see which app is in the foreground and how long each app has been used. This is what makes app blocking, daily limits and your statistics possible. From it, Beave keeps a record on your device that includes:
All of this stays on your device. It is never transmitted to us or to anyone else, it is deliberately excluded from Beave's cloud backup, and it is deleted when you uninstall the app. We cannot see it, and we have no way to retrieve it.
The sleep estimate is a convenience feature based on when your phone is idle. It is not a medical measurement and should not be treated as one.
When you sign in with Google, we receive and store:
If you have Beave Gold and cloud backup is on, the text of your tasks (titles, notes, due dates) is stored in your account so it survives a lost or replaced phone. Photos you attach to tasks are never uploaded and stay on your device. Without Gold, tasks stay on your device only.
If you allow notifications, we store a device push token so we can deliver notifications relating to your account. Reminders about your own usage, such as the daily-limit nudge and the end-of-day recap, are generated on your device and do not involve our servers.
Beave Gold is sold through Google Play Billing. We never see or store your card or payment details; Google handles the transaction.
Two services help us run purchases: RevenueCat records which plan you bought and whether it is still active, so the app knows to unlock Gold. Superwall displays the upgrade screen and measures which version of it people respond to. Both receive an anonymous identifier for your account and details of the purchase, not your name, email or usage data.
We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand which features people actually use. This helps us prioritise what to build next and what to fix. Analytics collects:
Analytics never includes your screen-time data. We do not log which apps you use, how long you use them, your pickups, your sleep estimate, your task contents, or any other free text you type into the app.
Firebase Analytics has been configured to NOT use the Android Advertising ID, so analytics events can't be linked to your ad profile elsewhere. We also do not use Analytics for ads or remarketing.
The data above is used solely to:
Cloud data (account, profile, leaderboard totals, backed-up tasks, push tokens) is stored using Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage, Cloud Messaging). Firebase processes this data on Google's servers under Google's security and privacy practices. See Firebase's privacy documentation and Google's Privacy Policy. Purchase records are held by RevenueCat and Superwall.
You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete account inside the app, or by emailing us (below). This removes your Beave profile, leaderboard entry, uploaded profile photo, and any backed-up tasks.
Everything held on your device, including your screen-time record, sleep estimate, blocking rules, dam progress, tasks and task photos, is removed when you uninstall the app. See our account deletion page for the full picture of what is and isn't removed.
Data in transit is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS). Cloud data is protected by Firebase's access rules so that your profile and backed-up tasks are readable only by you. The most sensitive data Beave handles never goes to a server at all. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep the data we hold to the minimum needed to run the app.
Beave is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we'll delete it.
We may update this policy as Beave evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
