Beave (by Aktar Studio) · Last updated 27 May 2026
The short version: You can use Beave without an
account. Your tasks and photos stay on your device, and we don't
upload them. If you sign in, we store only what's needed for
friends, chat, and the leaderboard (including your running focus
totals). We don't run ads, we don't track you, and we never sell
your data.
This policy explains what data Beave ("the app", "we", "us")
collects, why, and what control you have over it. It applies to
the Beave Android app published by Aktar Studio.
1. Using Beave without an account
Beave works anonymously. You can build your dam, run focus
sessions, block apps, and manage tasks without signing
in. In this mode, your data lives only on your device and
is never sent to us.
Signing in (with Google) is optional and only needed for social
features: adding friends, chat, Flip Together sessions, and the
leaderboard.
2. What we collect
Account information (only if you sign in)
When you sign in with Google, we receive and store:
Your name and profile photo (as provided by your Google account)
Your email address
A Google account identifier used to recognise you across devices
Profile & activity (signed-in users)
Your display name, photo, and a generated friend code
Aggregate focus stats used for the leaderboard: total
"sticks", number of focus sessions, and Flip Together count
Social features (signed-in users)
Friend connections you create
Chat messages you send to friends
Flip Together session rooms and invitations you create or join
Notifications
If you allow notifications, we store a device push token so we can
deliver friend requests, chat messages, and Flip Together invites.
On-device only (never sent to us)
Tasks (titles, notes, due dates) and any
photos you attach are stored only on your device.
Your detailed focus history (the per-day hours
shown in the weekly chart and your dam visualization) stays on
your device. Your running totals (sticks, sessions, and
Flip Together count) do sync to your account for the leaderboard
when you're signed in, as described in section 2. Signed-out
users sync nothing.
App-blocking: to block distracting apps during
a focus session, Beave uses Android's Usage Access permission to
detect which app is in the foreground. This check happens entirely
on your device. We never see, collect, or transmit your app-usage
data.
Camera: used only if you choose to attach a photo
to a task. Photos stay on your device.
3. What we do NOT do
We don't show ads.
We don't use analytics or tracking SDKs.
We don't collect your location or contacts.
We don't sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
4. How we use your data
The data above is used solely to:
Operate the features you use (friends, chat, Flip Together, leaderboard)
Recognise you when you sign in across devices
Deliver notifications you've opted into
5. Where your data is stored
Cloud data (account, profile, social features, push tokens) is
stored using Google Firebase (Authentication,
Cloud Firestore, Cloud Messaging). Firebase processes this data on
Google's servers under Google's security and privacy practices. See
Firebase's privacy documentation
and Google's Privacy Policy.
6. Retention & deletion
You can delete your account at any time from
Settings → Account → Delete account inside the app.
This removes your Beave profile, leaderboard entry, and synced
social data. Tasks and dam progress stored locally on your device
are removed when you uninstall the app.
You can also request deletion by emailing us (below) and we'll
remove your account data.
7. Security
Data in transit is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS). Cloud data is protected by
Firebase's access rules so that, for example, your chats are
readable only by you and the friend you're chatting with. No system
is perfectly secure, but we keep the data we hold to the minimum
needed to run the app.
8. Children
Beave is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly
collect data from them. If you believe a child has provided us data,
contact us and we'll delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Beave evolves. Material changes will be
reflected here with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the
app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
